About:
The Ward Melville Boys Varsity Lacrosse team recently took time off the field to give back in a powerful and heartfelt way—spending the day with residents at the Long Island State Veterans Home.
During their visit, the players connected with veterans, shared conversations, and expressed their gratitude for the service and sacrifices made by those who have served our country. The experience provided a meaningful opportunity for student-athletes to reflect on the importance of respect, appreciation, and community.
More than just a visit, the day served as a reminder of the values that extend beyond athletics—leadership, humility, and giving back. By taking the time to engage with veterans, the Ward Melville lacrosse program demonstrated how student-athletes can make a lasting impact through simple acts of kindness and connection.
Moments like these highlight the true spirit of education-based athletics—where teams use their platform to honor others, strengthen community bonds, and carry forward lessons that last far beyond the game.
