The students and staff at Helen B. Duffield Elementary School in the Connetquot Central School District successfully completed the NexTrex recycling challenge. They had 12 months to collect 1,000 pounds of soft film plastics and packaging, helping to reduce waste and promote environmental responsibility.
In just three months, they exceeded their goal by collecting 1,008 pounds. As a result, the school was awarded a composite bench made entirely from recycled materials. The bench will be placed in Helen B. Duffield’s courtyard for students and staff to enjoy.
