About:
The Seaford Girls Varsity Lacrosse recently took the field for more than just a game, using athletics as a platform to raise awareness and support for those impacted by cancer through their “Stick It To Cancer” initiative.
Ahead of their matchup against Plainedge Girls Lacrosse, the team encouraged students, families, and supporters to “Pink Out the Stands,” turning the event into a powerful show of community spirit and solidarity. Players, supporters, and fans wore pink to honor those battling cancer and to remind individuals and families facing the disease that they are not alone.
Through initiatives like this, student-athletes continue to demonstrate how sports can bring communities together around causes that matter. The Seaford girls lacrosse program helped create an atmosphere focused not only on competition, but also on compassion, awareness, and support for others.
Events like “Stick It To Cancer” highlight the important role athletics can play in inspiring service, leadership, and community involvement among students. By using their platform to support an important cause, the Seaford athletes showed that the impact of high school sports extends far beyond the scoreboard.
Their efforts serve as another meaningful example of student-athletes making a positive difference within their school and community.
