About:
The softball program at Putnam Valley Varsity Softball combined gratitude, community, and service during two meaningful annual traditions held before first pitch.
As part of the team’s “Shirt Off My Back” Game, senior players honored faculty members, staff, and coaches who made a lasting impact on their lives. The special recognition highlighted the important role educators and mentors play in supporting student-athletes both on and off the field.
The afternoon also featured the team’s annual Strike Out Cancer Game, bringing players, families, and supporters together to raise awareness and show support for those affected by cancer. Through ceremonies and community participation, the event demonstrated how athletics can unite people around causes that matter deeply to their school and community.
By celebrating mentorship while also supporting cancer awareness, Putnam Valley Softball continues to show the powerful impact sports can have in promoting appreciation, compassion, and community connection.
