About:
Students across the Eastport-South Manor Central School District came together on June 12 to celebrate Flag Day and honor the nation’s symbol of freedom and unity. Ahead of the June 14 holiday, elementary schools throughout the district hosted special ceremonies that highlighted patriotism, civic pride and appreciation for those who serve the country. Students and staff dressed in red, white and blue as they gathered for the celebrations.
At each school, local first responders, veterans and members of the military joined the festivities, underscoring the importance of service and sacrifice. Student musical ensembles performed a variety of patriotic songs, filling the ceremonies with pride and spirit.
South Street School welcomed special guests Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine and Legislator James Mazzarella. Romaine spoke to students about the history of the American flag and its significance as a symbol of the nation’s values and freedoms.
The annual celebrations provided students with an opportunity to learn about the history and symbolism of the American flag while recognizing the individuals who have dedicated themselves to protecting the nation and its values.
