The Fairmont Cardinals and Waseca Bluejays are coming together for more than a football game when the two teams meet on September 18.
Fans from both communities are being encouraged to support Tackle Cancer by purchasing a special 2026 Tackle Cancer T-shirt and wearing it proudly to the game. For every shirt sold, $5 will be added directly to Waseca High School’s Tackle Cancer donation.
The fundraiser gives players, families, and fans an opportunity to unite around an important cause while showing how high school athletics can create meaningful impact beyond the field.
Tackle Cancer is a statewide campaign of the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund in partnership with the Minnesota Football Coaches Association and football programs throughout Minnesota. Each fall, participating teams dedicate games and organize fundraisers to support cancer research, prevention, treatment, and programs serving Minnesota’s cancer community.
Since the campaign began in 2012, Tackle Cancer has raised more than $4.7 million.
T-shirt orders must be placed by September 7, giving supporters time to receive their shirts and help fill the stands with a visible show of support on game night.
The September 18 matchup will be an opportunity for two football communities to stand together for something much bigger than the final score.
