About:
Students at Port Jefferson Middle/High School came together to honor the lives lost and the heroic first responders of September 11, 2001, through a meaningful 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.
As part of their physical education classes, students participated in the stair climb as a way to commemorate the courage and sacrifice demonstrated by first responders who climbed the stairs of the World Trade Center towers to help others.
The activity gave students an opportunity to combine physical effort with reflection, helping a new generation understand the significance of September 11th and the extraordinary bravery displayed that day.
Through each step, Port Jefferson students honored those who lost their lives, recognized the first responders who ran toward danger to help others, and carried forward an important promise:
We will never forget.
