About:
The Suffolk County Community College Spirit teams are once again coming together in support of breast cancer awareness, continuing a tradition of giving that has made a lasting impact for more than a decade.
Since 2011, the Sharks have raised an impressive $30,632 to support the fight against breast cancer. This year, the program is once again supporting the American Cancer Society through the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, taking place at Grangabel Park in Riverhead on Saturday, October 3.
The Spirit teams have set a goal of raising $3,000, with all proceeds benefiting Making Strides Eastern Long Island.
With the event approaching, the Sharks are already closing in on their goal and are encouraging family, friends, and community members to help them finish strong. Donations will be accepted through Friday, October 2 at midnight.
For the Suffolk CCC Spirit program, participating in Making Strides has become much more than an annual fundraiser. It is a meaningful tradition centered on compassion, awareness, and standing alongside those whose lives have been affected by breast cancer.
Year after year, these student-athletes continue to show how the spirit of teamwork can extend well beyond competition.
With more than $30,000 raised since 2011, the Sharks have demonstrated the difference that can be made when a team consistently rallies behind a cause that touches so many families.
