About:
The Hauppauge/Smithtown Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving program is bringing together six of Long Island’s top teams for a special night of competition, community, and breast cancer awareness.
On Friday, October 9 at 5:00 PM, Hauppauge High School will host the Long Island Showdown — “We Breaststroke for Breast Cancer!”, featuring Hauppauge/Smithtown, Long Beach, East Hampton/Bridgehampton/Pierson, Jericho, Connetquot/East Islip, and Port Washington-Roslyn.
The meet will showcase some of the area’s top talent, including multiple state champions and All-American swimmers, but the night will be about much more than what happens in the pool.
The six teams are coming together around one shared cause: supporting the fight against breast cancer and using their platform as student-athletes to raise awareness and bring the community together.
Athletes, families, and fans are encouraged to wear pink and help create an atmosphere of support for everyone whose life has been impacted by breast cancer.
Events like the Long Island Showdown demonstrate how high school athletics can unite competitors around something bigger than the final score.
For one night, six teams will become one community — competing, supporting, and making waves for an important cause.
Together, they can make waves against breast cancer.
