This fall, Harborfields Athletics has turned the entire sports season into an opportunity to give back, with each team participating in a community-wide food drive benefiting HACO — Harborfields Alliance for Community Outreach.
HACO is a local nonprofit that operates a food pantry and helps distribute food and other essential items to families throughout the year.
Running from September into October, the food drive has involved student-athletes across Harborfields’ fall sports programs. Donation bins have been placed at athletic events, making it easy for students, families, and fans to contribute while supporting the Tornadoes.
Fans attending boys soccer and football games can find collection bins near the turf, while those attending volleyballcan drop off donations near the gym.
The effort has also been promoted through social media by the HACO Club, helping spread the word and encourage participation across the school community. Student leadership has played an important role in coordinating the initiative alongside Mr. Franco and Mrs. DeVaney.
All donated food will go directly to the HACO pantry and back into the local community, helping support neighbors in need.
By bringing the food drive directly to athletic events and involving teams across the school, Harborfields is showing how student-athletes can use the energy and reach of school sports to make a meaningful impact beyond competition.
The initiative is a strong example of teamwork, leadership, and community service coming together to support others.
