About:
The BHS SADD Chapter provides educational information, resources, and engaging activities for students and staff throughout the school year to promote safety, mental health awareness, healthy relationships, and positive decision-making. Our initiatives include:
Bus and Driver/Rider Safety: Promoting safe behaviors and responsible choices on and around school transportation.
World Mental Health Day: Raising awareness about mental health, sharing information about available resources such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and distributing awareness stickers and bracelets.
Red Ribbon Week: Encouraging drug-free choices and a bully-free school environment through daily announcements, student-designed posters, themed dress-up days, and an interactive lunch table featuring pledge signings and prize-wheel activities.
Mayo Blood Bank: Hosting the Mayo Blood Bank at our school twice a year to provide opportunities for life-saving blood donations.
Mental Health Awareness Speakers: Welcoming and introducing guest speakers who educate and encourage students and staff to prioritize mental health and well-being.
Chain of Life: Bringing students and staff together to create a visual representation of unity, awareness, and support.
Law Enforcement Appreciation Day: Recognizing and thanking law enforcement officers for their service to our school and community.
Random Acts of Kindness Week: Encouraging compassion, kindness, and positive connections throughout our school community.
AAA PROMise: Promoting responsible decision-making and safe choices during prom.
Text Less, Live More: Raising awareness about the dangers of distracted driving and encouraging students to stay focused behind the wheel.
Mental Health Awareness Month: Promoting mental wellness, reducing stigma, and encouraging students and staff to seek support when needed.
Annual Seatbelt Challenge: Partnering with the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office to encourage seatbelt use and reinforce the importance of safe driving habits.
Through these ongoing initiatives, BHS SADD strives to empower students and staff to make informed, responsible decisions, support one another, and build a safer, healthier, and more positive school and community environment.
