Members of the Bellport High School Athletes Helping Others Club were “Freezin for a Reason” as they dove into the icy water at Cedar Beach during the Town of Brookhaven Polar Plunge. Students raised money and awareness to help support the participants and their families in the Special Olympics.
Money raised is used to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of skills and friendship with their families, Special Olympics athletes and the community.
