More than 300 students from Elwood-John H. Glenn High School gathered on Feb. 27 for the school’s annual Volleyball-a-thon. The event represents one of the largest high school fundraisers of the year with all proceeds going to benefiting the Tom Cutinella Scholarship Fund, American Cancer Society Relay for Life and the Sean Urda Memorial Soccer Scholarship Fund. Each student contributed $10 to participate in the Volleyball-a-thon, which included a variety of snacks and drinks donated by parents and local business. Student teams creatively named themselves, dressed in matching T-shirts and took to the courts.
Fifty-three teams battled against one another on the volleyball court for the ultimate bragging rights of Volleyball-a-thon champs. In the end, the team that walked away with the title was “School Survival Guide,” but the true champions were the students who came together and raised a total of $3,699 for the three causes determined by the student council members.
The Elwood Union Free School District thanks all who participated and donated to this wonderful event.
