The Goshen Boys Soccer Program welcomes all 10 High School programs
to Goshen High School for the 6th Annual Section I v Section IX
“Day in Soccer” to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness.
Welcome to the 6th Annual Section 1 vs Section 9 Boys Soccer showcase. The purpose of this day is twofold. First, these matches are played annually, in October, to raise money for the American Cancer Society in support of breast cancer. Second, some of the top teams from Section 1 and Section 9 come together to showcase the talent in this area of New York State.
There will be a presentation at 7:00 PM tonight, prior to the kick off the Lakeland vs. Cornwall match. The presentation will include all donations made during the day, as well as the donations made possible by all 10 teams and the officials wearing the pink t-shirts for pregame warmup in solidarity. The donations to date have already totaled over $2,500 and in the last 5 years, there has been well over $15,000 donated to the American Cancer Society!
Additionally, the Section IX Soccer Coaches Association will be honoring Sandro Prosperino, head coach of the Valhalla Vikings from Section I, with a Humanitarian Award in recognition and celebration of his kindness and selflessness. This recognition will take place in between our first and second games of the day.
The level of competition at this event is unmatched anywhere in New York State boys’ high school soccer. We are a stand-alone event on Columbus Day to showcase our talent.
Thank you for joining us. Please continue to support our cause and donate money at the concession stand located to the left of the entrance to our stadium.
