About:
Halloween magic filled the air as fifth graders from Mt. Pleasant Elementary (MPE) in Smithtown made a special visit to the St. James Health Care Center. Dressed in their spookiest and silliest costumes, the students were ready for an unforgettable day of trick-or-treating. But this Halloween celebration was about more than just candy and fun—it was about spreading joy, bridging generations, and making memories that will last a lifetime.
As the students made their way through the Health Care Center, they shared laughter and smiles with the senior residents, who were delighted to be part of the festivities. The halls were alive with conversations, high-fives, and the heartwarming sight of young and old connecting through the spirit of the holiday.
“Seeing the excitement on both the children’s and seniors’ faces was truly magical,” one staff member shared. “It’s a reminder of the incredible impact simple acts of kindness and joy can have on a community.”
The event was a beautiful example of Smithtown’s dedication to community engagement and the well-being of its residents. By encouraging these interactions, the school district is not only teaching students the importance of giving back but also helping to create meaningful connections that uplift everyone involved.
Kudos to the Mt. Pleasant Elementary 5th graders and all who made this day so special! And remember, as the hashtag says, #BOOLIEVE in the magic of coming together.
From all of us at Smithtown CSD, we’re proud of our students for their kindness, and we’re grateful to the St. James Health Care Center for hosting such a wonderful event. Here’s to many more days filled with joy, laughter, and community spirit!
