About:
Construction projects have always been a great opportunity for Eagle Scouts to do something for their community that will have some permanence. Earl L. Vandermeulen High School senior Peter Rizzo had that thought in mind when he laid plans for his own unique Eagle Scout project.
Peter designed and built a memorial patio for Hope House Ministries in Port Jefferson. The patio currently has 50 names engraved on the bricks.
“This patio allows for a peaceful and soothing retreat for the victim’s families to remember their loved ones,” Peter said.
Peter was honored at a ceremony and rose to the rank of Eagle Scout for Troop 70 in Setauket on March 6. The Port Jefferson School District community thanks Peter for his efforts and the award’s well-recognized prestige.
