About:

With the support of the community Junior Baseball Player Brendan organized an equipment drive for those in need.

“We were actually going to do the drive in March as part of Central Amherst Little League’s preseason clinic at Amherst High School, but that event was cancelled because of COVID.

In the meantime, people from Central Amherst Little League who had already received the e-mail about the drive started dropping off items at our house. Brendan collected those from March through October and organized those items. He also organized about 300 miscellaneous extra uniform caps/jerseys that Central Amherst LL was looking to donate. And then he organized one more “drive-thru/drop-off” equipment drive on October 4 at Central Amherst, where families from the league donated a lot more items. The tally was more than 70 bats, 50 mitts, 40 batting helmets, 70 pairs of cleats, 80 pairs of baseball pants, 20 equipment bags, and eight sets of catcher’s gear. He cleaned and packaged those items for pickup by PAL. (Note: PAL didn’t want the cleats, so Brendan connected with a group called Baseball Without Borders and we’re sending the cleats to them—they distribute baseball items in the Dominican Republic and other locations around the world.)
