About:
This holiday season, one of the Amityville HS athletes, Delainey Katz, has turned her grief into a powerful mission to honor her late mother, who passed away just before Thanksgiving. In a heartfelt tribute, Delainey has chosen to raise awareness and funds for kidney disease, a cause close to her heart.
On Tuesday, December 12th, the Amityville Girls Basketball team will host the Kidney Disease Awareness Game in honor of Bethany Bambara, who courageously battled kidney disease. This special game will begin at 5:15 PM at Amityville Memorial High School, where the team is encouraging everyone to wear green to show support for kidney disease awareness. The event aims to raise awareness and funds for this important cause while honoring Bethany’s strength and memory.
How You Can Help:
- Attend the game and help fill the stands with green in support of the cause.
- Scan the QR code at the game to donate and make a difference in the fight against kidney disease.
This game provides an opportunity for the community to come together, support those affected by kidney disease, and celebrate the legacy of Bethany Bambara. It’s a beautiful example of how sports can be a platform for positive change, personal healing, and honoring loved ones.
We are incredibly proud of Delainey’s strength and dedication to making a difference during such a challenging time. Let’s join together to make a lasting impact, raise awareness, and honor the legacies of those who have fought this disease.
Thank you to all those who are supporting this event—your involvement means the world to Delainey, Bethany’s family, and everyone affected by kidney disease. Stay tuned for updates and photos from the game!

UPADTE: 2/12/24. What an amazing night on Claude Byer Court in the Fred Williams Gym. We honored Bethany Bambara, Delainey Katz’s mom, who passed away suddenly from kidney disease. Bethany was tough and fought all the way to the end. That’s what the girls did tonight.
Down 5 with 1 minute to go we battled back and won the game 42-39. Total team effort from the beginning to the end. We won the game but more importantly we honored Bethany Bambara and raised awareness to Kidney Disease.
