About:
Amityville Memorial High School students are learning the value of charity. Members of the WAC PAC club , which include student athletes, shopped for presents and then wrapped the gifts, which will benefit children in shelters. The gifts will go to Christmas Magic, a nonprofit organization which distributes toys to needy children. Amityville students went to Target, where they had a budget of $75 per child to buy items on their holiday wish list. They then got together several days after school to wrap presents in the lobby as Christmas music played in the background.
WAC PAC adviser Jason McGowan delivered the wrapped gifts to Christmas Magic’s office, known as the North Pole. He said Amityville students fulfilled wishes for 70 children this year. “It’s a great opportunity that we can help other kids who aren’t as blessed to have everything we have this holiday season” said WAC PAC President Eshti Sookram.
