About:
We had 16 varsity football players and 5 coaches participate in the project. We were there for 4 hours (9am – 1pm). The City of Amsterdam contacted me about 2.5 weeks ago asking if we would be interested in partnering with them in their project renovating the Veteran’s Park pavilion. It was an easy decision to make and when I presented the idea to our team, instantly they loved the idea and were more than willing to help. Friday nights in Amsterdam, especially during the fall, have always been about attending our football games not only supporting us, but our marching band and school community. They support us throughout the entire year, attending various fundraising events for our program. It was a perfect time for us to give back to the community that has given us so much throughout the years. Everyone at the end of the day commented about how great it was to give back to the community as well as how they were looking forward to the finished project, knowing that they had a hand in making it happen. It was estimated by the City of Amsterdam that we moved approximately 80,000 pounds of concrete that day and saved them a tremendous amount of money for the removal.
We are currently looking at partnering up again with the city for future projects.
