About:
Freeport’s Archer Street Elementary School sponsored a holiday “Giving Tree” throughout the month of November, in cooperation with Our Holy Redeemer Parish Outreach in Freeport.
The school asked for donations of canned foods, paper goods, plastic ware and other nonperishable items that will help provide meals for the needy and homeless. The donations were then picked up on Nov. 22.
Our Holy Redeemer Parish Outreach provides meals for those children and adults in need within the community. Whenever a student brought in a donation, his/her name was written on a leaf and placed on “The Giving Tree,” which was displayed in the building’s hallway.
