About:
The Apple Valley High School Football program recently embraced one of its core values — selflessness — by participating in its annual Polar Plunge in support of Special Olympics.
This year, approximately 40 students from the program registered to participate in the event, raising just under $4,000 to support athletes in Special Olympics programs. The Polar Plunge provided a fun and memorable way for players to give back while showing their support for fellow athletes.
For many of the participants, the event has become a meaningful tradition. Several Apple Valley players have taken part in the Polar Plunge for four consecutive years, demonstrating the program’s ongoing commitment to service and inclusion.
Events like the Polar Plunge help reinforce the idea that being part of a team means more than competing on the field. By supporting Special Olympics, Apple Valley Football players are helping promote opportunities, respect, and encouragement for athletes of all abilities.
Through their continued participation and fundraising efforts, the program is building a culture where leadership, compassion, and teamwork extend well beyond football.
A video from the event, created by the team’s parents, captures the excitement and energy of the day and highlights the strong community support behind the initiative.
