About:
Six students & student athletes from Deauville Gardens East Elementary School in the Copiague School District recently participated in a St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser held at the Bulldog Grille in Amityville. Through this event, they helped raise money by shaving their heads for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to benefit childhood cancer research.
As valued members of the “Bald by Choice” team, students Andrew Falco, Steven Falco, Shawn Handwerker, Jared Haynes, Angelo Lupinacci and Carmine Lupinacci were among the group of 30 team members who raised money and shaved their head. With a goal of raising $30,000, the team exceeded that amount and raised more than $50,000 for the cause. For their participation, students received a T-shirt and an “Ask Me Why I’m Bald” pin.
“The kids are all heroes” said Vincent Lupinacci, coordinator of the “Bald by Choice” team.
