Baldwin High School’s Boys Varsity Basketball captains, Ethan Sainsbury and Gabriel Phillips, along with Coach Darius Burton, took their teamwork off the court for a special literacy event at Lenox Elementary School.
Visiting fourth graders in Ms. James Cohen and Mrs. Katie Schieck’s classes, the players shared some of their favorite books. Gabriel captivated the students with I Have a Superpower by Stephen Curry, while Ethan engaged them with Hoop Genius: How a Desperate Teacher and a Rowdy Gym Class Invented Basketball by John Coy.
The visit wasn’t just about reading; the students also enjoyed an interactive Q&A session with the athletes and coach, making it a memorable experience that combined sports, education, and community connection.
