About:
On February 28, 2020 the Carle Place Student Organization (Advisor Ms. Kelly) and the Key Club (Advisor Ms. Buffalino) held their annual Battle of the Classes, Battling for a Cause.
Students battled for Duke Children’s (Dr. Kishnani’s Pompe Disease Fund). Student’s were inspired by 5 year old Sophia’s battle with Pompe Disease. Sophia’s grandparents Roseann and John Favicchia are both employed by the Carle Place School District.
Students took part in a competitive game night. Some of the highlights were the skit competition, coin wars, potato sack race, inflatable obstacle course, and tug o’war. Congrats to the seniors class for taking the overall victory. Congrats to the freshmen who placed first in fundraising with a grand total of $6,092. Special thanks to top fundraisers: Junior Leah Iglesias $580, Freshmen Katarina Murray $1,000, Sophomore Justina Cavallaro $1,995 and Freshmen Jenna Cavallaro $2,380.
All members of the student organization, key club executive board, Ms. Kelly and Ms. Buffalino are so proud that $28,413 was fundraised collaboratively with the middle school battle junior, making this year’s Battle of the Classes, Battling for a Cause the largest fundraiser in the history of the event.
