About:
Members of the National Junior Honor Society at Bay Shore Middle School demonstrated the power of service and community by partnering with AmVets Post 76 to host a special community service event in support of local veterans.
The event was held to honor the veterans residing at Beacon House, providing students with the opportunity to spend meaningful time connecting with and learning from those who have served. Throughout the visit, students shared pizza, played card games, and engaged in conversation, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere filled with appreciation and respect.
This hands-on service experience allowed NJHS students to give back in a personal and impactful way, reinforcing the importance of gratitude, empathy, and civic responsibility. By working alongside AmVets Post 76, students helped strengthen the connection between generations while honoring the sacrifices made by local veterans.
The event reflected Bay Shore Schools’ continued commitment to service and community engagement, showing how small moments of connection can make a lasting difference.
