About:

Bayport-Blue Point Elementary School students spent Nov. 10 recognizing the brave military heroes who fought for the country’s freedoms.

American flags were placed on the school grounds to remind the community of the sacrifices made, and students read books and listened to facts about veterans and Veterans Day on the daily announcements. The entire school community attended a presentation by Hugh Reilly and his dog Sammy about America’s Vet Dogs and their importance to veterans. Students also “Walked for the Wounded” on school grounds and presented a check for $512 to America’s Vet Dogs program. Additionally, students and staff turned in stars with the photos in their lives as part of the Hallway of Heroes.
