About:
The Smithtown Beach Clean-Up at Sunken Meadow State Park was a huge success this past Saturday.
More than 100 people came out representing every school in the district! Students and teachers acted as citizen scientists, picking up 192 pounds of trash and documented what kind it was. That information will be added to the database that follows trends in trash.
Thank you to Lauren Hoffman, HSW teacher and Environmental Club advisor, who organized the day with her club. AMSEAS (Atlantic Marine Conservation Society) and the Smithtown Green Team was there with buckets and pickers and gloves.
Lots of Smithtown pride represented!
