Photo caption: Mrs. Grossi and Mrs. Robertson’s sixth grade math classes at Beach Street Middle School in the West Islip School District are sharpening their math skills in their study of geometric solids. Students were challenged to find the volume and surface area of a box of nonperishable food. Following the lesson, more than 125 items were donated to the West Islip Food Pantry.
