About:
The Helping Hands Club at West Islip’s Beach Street Middle School held its annual Thanksgiving food drive to help families in need in the local community, collecting Thanksgiving-related nonperishable goods in the bin in the main lobby, starting the first week of November. Donations include boxed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cake mix, and canned fruits and vegetables.
“It is important to Beach Street to give back and give thanks, especially during this time of year,” said school counselor Kathleen Jane Crowley. “Our Helping Hands Club is committed to spreading positivity and making a difference in our school community and the world at large, and this is just one of the many projects the club does throughout the year to help others in need.”
