Cats and dogs getting new homes with also have new blankets thanks to the efforts students in the Builders Club at Berner Middle School in the Massapequa School District.
The service-oriented organization made no-sew blankets that were donated to Last Hope Animal Rescue in Wantagh. Joanne Anderson, a volunteer for Last Hope, visited the Builders Club meeting afterschool on March 11 to accept a donation of about 15 blankets. She said that when people come in to adopt animals, they will receive a blanket as a gift.
Adviser Bill Pollock said that students were enthusiastic about a project that will benefit animals, as many have cats and dogs at home. The next service initiative for the Builders Club will be a beach cleanup.
