About:
Students are spreading kindness beyond the walls of Birch Lane Elementary School in the Massapequa School District as they look to brighten the lives of others in their community. On Oct. 25, third graders from Kimberly Kelly’s class visited the Parkview Care and Rehabilitation Center in Massapequa to present them with colorful seasonal artwork.
Throughout October, students in Ms. Kelly’s class worked together with their peers in several others classes at Birch Lane to create fall- and Halloween-themed artwork. The completed pieces were affixed to large white paper, and Ms. Kelly, Assistant Principal Joyce Larkin and several students visited Parkview afterschool to deliver the murals. Students were able to meet many of the seniors who will get to enjoy their work.
Ms. Kelly said that it was a schoolwide project as students from kindergarten through fifth grade contributed.
“Kindness is contagious,” Ms. Kelly said, “and the best way to spread it is to see the joy it brings to other people.”
