ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Nov. 17, 2016) – Members of the women’s bowling team took time out from their busy schedules to visit the Kindergarten Center of the Hempstead UFSD. Freshmen Marisa Clinton (Staten Island, N.Y.), Alyssa Doto (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Carly Licht (Bethpage, N.Y.) were accompanied by Head Women’s Bowling Coach Dr. Robert Cincotta on a visit to a Read-A-Loud program offered by Principal Carolyn Townes-Richards.
Each classroom received a visit from the bowlers, who read stories and gave a gift of footballs and basketballs to the students. The team provided a positive message about studying and doing well in school. Doto, an early childhood education major, was very impressed with the experience “As an education major it was a great opportunity to see first-hand how the students and teachers interact. I hope to be a teacher when I graduate so this visit was special to me”.
Licht, a speech pathology major echoed Doto’s sentiment, “The students were really nice and they enjoyed the stories and gifts”. Clinton stated that “I can’t believe the students came up and hugged me. The teachers and students were so friendly. I am glad we had an opportunity to visit with them”.
This visit is among a number of community outreach projects that Dr. Cincotta has planned for the team this season.
