About:

The Brighton Boys Lacrosse Team (Rochester, NY) participated with Primetime 585 in a Holiday Community Service Project.

Primetime 585 is an amazing nonprofit organization in our community that “inspires and empowers student-athletes to improve communities through service and action, using sports to build authentic relationships that bridge cultural, economic, and geographic barriers.” This organization has become a very powerful force in Monroe and surrounding counties. They not only support and celebrate the achievements of athletes in all Section V sports but also provide opportunities for athletes to give back to their community. They have a very active social media presence and are very successful in engaging and motivating student athletes. It is quite remarkable.

On Nov 28, Primetime 585 put out a FaceBook/Instagram Post looking for teams or school clubs to help them wrap over 1,000 toys for the Golisano Children’s Hospital’s sickle cell unit and 4 local elementary schools in the most impoverished areas of our city. There was interest from the Brighton Boys Lacrosse team to participate – so with support of Coach Metz, a couple of Booster Parents and the JV and Varsity Team, we were able to pick up several boxes of toys that were donated by community members. On Friday, Dec 2, 23 members of the Brighton Boys Varsity and JV Lacrosse Team gathered after school to wrap the gifts. The wrapped toys were delivered back to Primetime 585 that weekend. Distribution of the gifts will occur in the next 2 weeks.
