About:
My name is Paul Biddle and I coach the Boy’s Varsity Tennis team. Every season I take the team to the Volunteer’s Desk on North Hampton Street in Buffalo. This is an organization that provides supplies for students, families, teachers, and schools that can not afford them. Our group goes down and we help stock shelves, help customers shop, do inventory and more. This time we had to assemble a backpack with a planner, notebooks and other supplies. There were only 13 of us but in less than 3 hours we assembled 1,350 backpacks. In total the Teacher’s Desk will be making 15,000 so we are just a small group of students that want to give back. These backpacks with supplies are sent to Ukraine, Africa and also stay in Buffalo for the needy. The head organizer/owner is John Mika who has always been passionate about teaching and doing right by kids. I have always wanted to be a teacher and coach and I know this is one of the most important things we can do with our kids. We were very proud of how much we accomplished. The week before 30 M and T bank employees did the same amount we did and we had less than 1/2 the staff. It was incredible to watch our kids work.
