We had what we called a super soccer night, which showcased our Super Saturday Athletes. The student athletes took part in the pre game starting lineups, etc with the girls team, played at halftime of the girls game, and we had coaching with us throughout the game. All money raised at the door went to Braintree’ Super Saturday Program.
Due to the heat the boys game which was supposed to be prior to the girls game but was postponed. We were still able to raise close to $1,000 dollars. This was the first annual event and we hope to grow it bigger and bigger each year. More Super Saturday athletes and our goal next year is to raise $5,000 dollars.
Super Saturdays is a non-profit organization of about 75 individuals with special needs (aged 9-22 years) who are residents of the South Shore and attend Braintree Public Schools. This is a social and recreational program that meets every Saturday and is designed to enhance friendships and social interactions between children in a non-academic setting.
