The Bridgehampton and Southampton athletic communities came together for a special evening of unity, strength, and support, celebrating Mike “Bubba” DeRosa’s strength and spirit. The event, held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Southampton High School, featured a soccer matchup between the Bridgehampton Killer Bees and the Southampton Mariners.
Mike DeRosa, a beloved athletic director and physical education teacher at Bridgehampton, and a Hampton Bays alumnus and resident, has long been known for his dedication to student-athletes, his leadership, and his infectious enthusiasm for sports and community. Recently, DeRosa was diagnosed with Stage 4 glioblastoma and underwent emergency surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor.
Seeing the Bridgehampton and Hampton Bays communities rally to support one of their own has been truly heartwarming. The game served not only as a spirited athletic contest but also as a heartfelt show of solidarity for a man who has spent his life inspiring others.
Through the cheers, the shared stories, and the overwhelming show of love and support, one message echoed loud and clear—no one fights alone. Mike “Bubba” DeRosa’s strength and spirit continue to inspire everyone who knows him, on and off the field.
