About:
The Brighton Bruins Hockey team recently demonstrated that athletics can be about far more than competition by hosting their annual “Pink the Rink” game in support of the Pluta Cancer Foundation.
Through the event, the team successfully raised more than $1,300 to help provide critical support services for cancer patients and their families. The fundraiser highlighted the powerful role student-athletes can play in raising awareness of important causes and rallying their community around meaningful initiatives.
Funds raised from the game will help the Pluta Cancer Foundation continue its mission of ensuring that no patient faces their cancer journey alone. The organization provides comfort services, financial assistance for essential living expenses, transportation to medical appointments, and access to wellness programs designed to support patients physically and emotionally.
The success of the Pink the Rink event was made possible through the collective efforts of players, coaches, families, and community supporters who came together for a night that blended sport, service, and compassion. Beyond the dollars raised, the event helped strengthen community connections and demonstrated the Bruins’ commitment to making a positive impact off the ice.
Initiatives like Brighton Hockey’s Pink the Rink game show how high school athletic programs can use their platform to lead with empathy and inspire others to give back — proving that sometimes the biggest wins happen away from the scoreboard.
