About:
The basketball program operates Saturday morning clinics/practices for Kindergarten-1st grade students, alternating between boys and girls programs across 9 Saturday mornings. During the girls’ program sessions, team members work alongside their head coach and an adult instructor (a former coach and current elementary school PE teacher) to lead an hour of skills and drills. Additionally, the girls’ program encourages JV and Varsity players to volunteer at practices and games for 3rd-6th grade teams.
While there isn’t a mandatory volunteer hour requirement, the program tracks participation and rewards dedicated volunteers with awards and scholarships.
Players can apply their volunteer hours toward class requirements and future scholarship applications for college or post-high school opportunities.
The program has a tradition of hosting a special MLK Jr. Day clinic, which was recently revived at the request of senior players who remembered participating when they were younger.
The two-hour clinic brings together girls from 4th-12th grade, with coaches and alumni helping to lead drills and fun contests.
This event serves as a valuable community-building experience that strengthens the entire program.
