About:
Officers from Islip High School’s Buccaneer University Peer Mentoring program recently visited 8th-grade students during their lunch periods. The visit created a relaxed and engaging opportunity for middle school students to ask questions, learn about high school life, and begin forming connections with upperclassmen who will soon be part of their school community.
The Peer Mentoring program is designed to foster leadership, communication, and support among students while building a positive school culture. By stepping into a mentorship role, high school students can guide and encourage younger peers as they prepare for the next stage of their academic journey.
This initiative highlights the importance of student leadership and community within schools. Small interactions like these can have a lasting impact, helping students feel more confident and connected as they transition into high school.
