The Cal-Mum Girls Volleyball program took time to recognize the teachers and staff members who have made a lasting impact on its student-athletes during a special Staff Appreciation Night.
Before the varsity match against Pavilion, each JV and varsity volleyball player selected a teacher or staff member who has played an important role in their journey. During a pregame ceremony, each Raider was introduced alongside the person they chose to honor, with the staff members receiving a special certificate and recognition on the court.
The evening gave student-athletes an opportunity to personally thank the educators, mentors, and school staff who have supported, encouraged, and influenced them both in and out of the classroom.
Those honored included Mr. Harvey, Mr. Mervine, Mrs. Flint, Mrs. Burns, Mrs. Peet, Mrs. Kunichika, Mr. Harrington, Mr. Henry, Mr. Meloon, Mrs. Romaguera, Mrs. Streb, Mrs. Coffta, Mr. Yaekel, Mrs. Cassidy Schaffer, Mr. Youngs, Mrs. Cornwell, Ms. Chapman, Ms. Anderson, Ms. Parker, Mr. Purtell, Mrs. Geary, Mr. Trost, and Mr. Geary.
A special thank you was also shared with Coach Harmon, Coach Pullyblank, and the entire volleyball program for creating such a meaningful opportunity to recognize the people who help shape the lives of their student-athletes.
While the varsity team ultimately fell to a strong Pavilion squad in four sets, the night was about much more than the final score.
Staff Appreciation Night was a meaningful reminder that the lessons, encouragement, and support student-athletes receive extend far beyond the court. By taking time to recognize those who make a difference in their lives, the Cal-Mum Volleyball program helped celebrate the important connection between athletics, education, and gratitude.
