About:
Hockey is about more than what happens on the scoreboard—it’s about the community built off the ice.
Last year, Jenny Wild and Ella Celej approached the CASH Girls Hockey team with a simple but powerful idea: host a food drive to support neighbors facing food insecurity. The plan was straightforward—rally fans at a home game, collect donations, and divide the proceeds evenly among the three local school food pantries.
On the day of the event, the team arrived early, traded their sticks for donation bins, and welcomed community members as they entered the rink. With the entire team involved, players shared the initiative across social media and spread the word to family and friends, turning a single game night into a true community effort.
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of their fans, the food drive was a huge success.
With busy schedules and packed seasons, finding time for community service can be challenging. This initiative proved that meaningful impact doesn’t have to be complicated—just collective. Because of its success last year, the team was excited to bring the food drive back again this season.
By supporting local school pantries, the CASH Girls Hockey program is helping ensure fellow students have access to the resources they need to succeed. It’s a win for the schools, a win for the community, and a growing tradition the entire program can be proud of.
A special thank-you to everyone who donated and helped show, once again, that this community truly has each other’s backs.
