About:
Cazenovia Hockey used the power of sport to make a meaningful impact by hosting a Hockey Fights Cancer game in support of pediatric cancer care, bringing the community together for a night of purpose, awareness, and generosity.
The special event featured the Cazenovia Lakers vs. Syracuse Cougars matchup on January 13 at SUNY Morrisville IcePlex and was sponsored by Upstate Cancer Center at Verona. Proceeds from the night benefited Griffin’s Guardians, a Central New York–based pediatric cancer charity dedicated to supporting children and families facing cancer.
In addition to the on-ice action, the evening featured engaging fundraising activities, including raffle prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and Chuck-A-Puck, giving fans opportunities to participate and give back throughout the game. The team also proudly wore special Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys, reinforcing the message of unity and support.
With the support of community partners and sponsors—including ASAP Interiors and Integral Hockey—the event highlighted how high school athletics can extend far beyond competition. By rallying around a shared cause, Cazenovia Hockey demonstrated leadership, compassion, and a commitment to making a difference for those impacted by pediatric cancer.
Events like this showcase the positive role student-athletes can play in their communities, using their platform to raise awareness and support causes that truly matter.
