About:
In July, members of the Homer girls’ varsity soccer team dedicated their time to the CAPCO Community Field Day, bringing smiles and creativity to the event by painting faces. This fun activity quickly became one of the day’s most popular attractions, with a line of eager participants waiting outside the tent for most of the event.
CAPCO (Cortland County Community Action Program) is a nonprofit organization committed to fighting poverty by providing programs and resources that promote self-reliance and dignity. This year’s Community Field Day was particularly special, as it marked 50 years of CAPCO’s impactful work in the community. The event drew over 400 community members, all gathered to celebrate this significant milestone and the positive change CAPCO continues to bring to Cortland County.
The Homer girls’ soccer team’s involvement is a fantastic example of how young athletes can engage with their community and make a difference. By volunteering their time and skills, they not only helped make the event memorable but also demonstrated the spirit of giving back, which is at the heart of Team Up 4 Community’s mission. Thank you to these dedicated athletes for showing that teamwork extends beyond the field and into the heart of the community!
