About:
Many athletes proudly wore gold t-shirts, designed by Glen Jusczyk, to honor their classmate Malia Jusczyk ’27, who sadly passed away at the age of 14 in June 2023 after a battle with relapsed neuroblastoma.
Malia’s courageous fight against cancer highlighted how her love for sports, especially soccer, supported her through her journey. She initially used soccer as part of her rehabilitation after overcoming her first diagnosis of Stage IV neuroblastoma at the age of three. Despite her cancer relapsing in 2021 after nine years of remission, Malia remained actively involved in the sport.
The video also shared information about the For Kids’ Sake Foundation, which was established in 2011, inspired by Malia’s strength and passion. The foundation aims to assist other children in their fight against pediatric cancer by funding trials and covering expenses for families with limited options for their children’s treatment.
