The Center Moriches Varsity Cheer team is not just leading cheers but also leading the way in giving back to the community! The team has partnered with Carecycle, a program supported by the American Red Cross, to collect clothing, shoes, and other items for thrift stores across the U.S. This impactful fundraiser showcases the team’s commitment to making a difference off the field.
Organized by the cheer team and supported by the athletes’ families, the initiative has already seen a tremendous response. Multiple bagged donations have been collected, filled with items from the team and their supporters. A parent of one of the athletes took the lead in connecting with Carecycle, ensuring this effort directly benefits those in need.
The team is set to finalize their collection this Saturday, at which point they will know the total number of donations received. These contributions not only support the mission of Carecycle but also reflect the holiday spirit of generosity and community.
This fundraiser is part of the team’s submission to the NYSPHSAA Community Service Challenge and the Long Island Holiday Heroes Program, further amplifying the impact of their efforts.
