About:
Centereach High School was filled with purpose, pride, and powerful community spirit as the Middle Country Coaches vs. Cancer Games took center stage. Hosted on Saturday, December 6th, the event brought together athletes, families, and supporters from across the Middle Country district for a full day of basketball devoted to raising awareness and standing strong in the fight against cancer.
The Centereach Girls Basketball program joined forces with Newfield, transforming the gym into a space where competition met compassion. Decked out in cancer-awareness colors and fueled by school pride, players took the court not only to compete, but to honor survivors, support families, and remember loved ones affected by cancer.
From morning tip-off through the final buzzer, the day featured spirited matchups, enthusiastic crowds, and meaningful moments that highlighted the power of athletics to bring people together. Coaches, athletes, and community members united around a shared mission: raising awareness and showing unwavering support for those battling cancer within the Middle Country community and beyond.
Events like these reflect the heart of high school sports — teaching young athletes leadership, empathy, and the importance of rallying behind a cause greater than themselves.
Thank you to Centereach, Newfield, the coaching staff, and everyone who came out to show their support. Together, you made the Coaches vs. Cancer Games a memorable day filled with hope, unity, and purpose.
