About:
Slogan: “Heal the Hate…Heal the World.”
A student leadership summit that provided students a safe space to have meaningful conversations about race and social justice. Students had the ability to create an alliance for cultural transformation by becoming a “change agent”.
This event supported the district’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion mission. The goal of the district is to cultivate a community where all members experience a sense of belonging. This culminating event allowed students from our elementary schools to our high schools to come together to have safe conversations and an opportunity to get to know each other and their stories. We had nearly twenty student-athletes from our Spring season partake in this event.
The student-athletes who participated worked with adult facilitators and some were student-facilitators for this event. The event explored how to break down barriers related to intolerance and explore social identities.

The event itself was 4-hours. There was some additional preparation (about 5 hours) that a few of our athletes facilitators participated in.
