Students at Chatterton Elementary School in the Merrick School District offered their words of thanks to police officers across the region, as part of the Town of Hempstead’s “Thank a Law Enforcement Officer” program, spearheaded by Councilman Christopher Carini.
Students in Stacey Mahoney’s fourth grade class composed letters that included words of gratitude such as, “Thank you for keeping us all safe and sound” and “Thank you for helping when people are injured or hurt.”
The “Thank a Law Enforcement Officer” program is part of National Police Week, which runs from May 9-May 15.
