About:
The CHECKMATE Shark Attack Gold 2035 lacrosse team is proving that teamwork goes far beyond the field.
As part of the Gordon Purdie CHECKMATE Lacrosse family, this group of dedicated third-grade student-athletes has been spending their first season together not only building lacrosse skills, but also learning the importance of leadership, compassion, and community service.
Led by supportive families and coaches, the team recently organized a Summer Essentials Drive benefiting the NYU Langone Pediatric Center in Hempstead. The initiative focused on collecting important seasonal items to help children and families in need throughout Long Island.
The boys kicked off their efforts with a lemonade stand fundraiser before coming together to create summer care packages for local children. Donations collected included sunscreen, bathing suits, deodorant, reusable water bottles, fruit snacks, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, granola bars, and other essential summer items that many families may struggle to afford.
The drive also partnered with Council 1869, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families living in poverty through community resource drives and impactful local initiatives.
Through this project, the Shark Attack Gold team demonstrated that even at a young age, student-athletes can make a meaningful difference when they work together for a greater cause. Their efforts reflect the true spirit of youth sports — using teamwork, leadership, and service to positively impact others.
The CHECKMATE Shark Attack Gold 2035 team is already creating lasting memories during their first year together, both on and off the field, and setting a strong example for what it means to be champions in their community.
